QOTD

Boston Globe columnist Joan Vennochi hilariously "airbrushing" the late Senator Ted:
Like all figures in history -- and like those in the Bible, for that matter -- Kennedy came with flaws. Moses had a temper. Peter betrayed Jesus. Kennedy had Chappaquiddick, a moment of tremendous moral collapse.
Admittedly, Moses had a role in drowning deaths, though not motivated by mood. And Peter "denied" Jesus, not "betrayed" him. Still, in a way, it's comforting that some liberals can suspend disbelief sufficiently to cite the Bible without sneering. Even if only to position Ted Kennedy so near to God.

(via Mark Steyn, who calls Vennochi's Bible study "close enough for Catholic-lite Massachusetts.")

As I've intimated before, I think Teddy's gone to a place which is purportedly a considerable bit warmer than Massachusetts.

And I ain't talkin' about the Kennedy Compound in Florida.

P.S.:

Boston Globe columnist Joan Vennochi hilariously "airbrushing" the late Senator Ted...

Are you sure he's not gilding a turd? It seems more accurate.

I read the Bible quotes differently. I thought his tone was expressing "yeah, all you right-wing Bible thumpers, take that! We know more about your religion than you."

I agree with OBH, but not with AVI--unless his point is that Vennochi's mistakes demonstrate that they don't know more religion.
