Second QOTD

From a terrorist captured in Gaza--"a 52-year-old victim of a premature detonation who had already done time in an Israeli jail"--quoted in Friday's Israel National News:
Hamas took a gamble. We thought, at worst Israel will come and do something from the air -- something superficial. They'll come in and go out. We never thought that we would reach the point where fear will swallow the heart and the feet will want to flee. You [Israel] are fighting like you fought in '48. What got into you all of a sudden?

I've read that Egypt is trying to broker a cease-fire, which Israel is considering....

I certainly hope Israel can maintain its resolve and keep destroying Hamas' strongholds, arms caches and supply tunnels throughout Gaza. I want the Hamas leadership, personally, to admit defeat and sue for peace.

(I have no doubt that they will never KEEP a peace; but I want them to "feel themselves subdued", as their holy writings put it. I want them to BE SHAMED on the world stage.) (Admittedly, I'd also like to win the lottery...)

Secretary Rice signed an agreement Friday to share intel about the tunnels on the Egypt border, which was thought to be a pre-requisite for a cease-fire. My guess is the Israel is going to agree to a truce, and wrap it up with a bow to present to Obama in his first week so he can take credit for it. At least that's what I might do were I running Israel.

Actually, Israel today unilaterally adopted a cease fire. That changes my view, making me think that Israel wanted to be sure to stop before Obama would have the opportunity to pressure them.

They should just take the whole army in, clear out the infested rat warrens, and leave.
