Enviro News Story of the Day

From the December 9th Austrian Times:
Green campaigners called in police after discovering an illegal logging site in a nature reserve -- and rounded up a gang of beavers.

Environmentalists found 20 neatly stacked tree trunks and others marked for felling with notches at the beauty-spot at Subkowy in northern Poland.

But police followed a trail left where one tree had been dragged away -- and found a beaver dam right in the middle of the river. A police spokesman said: "The campaigners are feeling pretty stupid. There's nothing more natural than a beaver."

Did anyone check to see if the "environmentalists" were able to recognize a beaver in a police lineup?

The article doesn't say.

These were European green campaigners, which usually come from the advanced socialist republics of older Europe. Danes, Swedes, a smattering of Germans and so forth.

Due to enlightened sex ed, such individuals become extremely good at identifying beavers at a young age. It's just that they were not aware that some beavers roam freely and are members of a non-human species.
