I can just imagine the discussion around the dinner table or in the bedroom. "You're going to Reno to do WHAT?"
Apparently, the answer would have been "to visit a gigolo"--two of the five MPs were female!
See? That's why we always should use gender-neutral language. I don't think the men would be all that thrilled either.
I have the same position on gender neutrality as Winston Churchill:
Another amusing encounter in the House of Commons is reported to have occurred as Churchill was orating about mankind, saying "Man" this and "Man" that. Every time he would mention "Man," Lady Astor would interject: "...And Woman, Mr. Speaker...And Woman!" Finally Churchill is supposed to have exclaimed, "In this context, Mr. Speaker, the understanding is that Man EMBRACES Woman."
