The smackdown Russian (and Washington Capital) hockey player Alex Ovechkin (ОВЕЧКИН) laid on Czech (and former Capital) Jaromir Jagr can be viewed here.

Beautiful hit. Jagr's no small guy, but Ovechkin's positioning was much better. I've been man-handled by smaller players who understood physics better than myself, and even gotten a few lucky hits of my own on bigger players where they end up on the ground and I stand there pretending I'm goliath.

Lame-R: Yup. I heard the hit even busted Jagr's visor. . . After all the money we wasted on Jagr, priceless.

Rumor is Jagr may be coming back to the NHL. Jagr was great for most of his tenure in Pittsburgh but it was so noticeable when his heart wasn't in it. (Which is the case for his time in Washington)

PB: For your sake, I hope he doesn't go back to Pittsburgh.

Agreed. Canada put it to Russia tonight.

What a crappy game by Russia--bad goaltending and defense, and no teamwork on the offense.

At least Ovechkin will get some rest before the remainder of the Caps season begins. Despite the fact that the "Russian machine never breaks."
