Speaking on the sidelines of a smart grid conference in Washington, Dr. Chu said he didn’t think average folks had the know-how or will to to change their behavior enough to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.
"The American public. . . just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act," Dr. Chu said.

These calls for authoritarian responses because of "needs too fast for the public to assimilate" all sound remarkably identical to those regarding the need for overpopulation and resource mandates back in the late 60s and early 1970s.
You know, the ones that were to fend off britain being a dead hulk by the year 2000, and the total deaths of the oceans by 2020?
My bet is that they will be found, if denied, to have been just as hysterically over the top incorrect as those were -- not only by those with more sense at the time but by the passage of time as well.
