The Problem With Recessions

According to the New York Times, which started a story about state employee furloughs with this paragraph:
Licenses for same-sex marriages were supposed to be issued in Iowa starting this Friday. But because of a crimped state budget, court employees will be on mandatory furlough that day and the courts will be closed. Gay couples cannot start filing for their licenses until Monday.
If all you have is a hammer, all you see is a three day delay for Peter to marry Paul.

This is why the NYT is heading for Chapter 11 or worse. They deserve it.

Incompetence in the media won't be tolerated by people who have to pay for services.

The press so embarrassed themselves at the Obama press conference that public attitudes towards institutions like NYT is only continuing to plummet. Print media in particular are so in the leftist corner that they are no longer believable. Accordingly, no one is paying them for their services.

The press corps did embarrass themselves last Wednesday - and in public. For a bit of a laugh on all this, you might hit:

Are you suggesting that all government burueacrats are tools?

If so, I believe that is a largely correct assessment.

Actually, OBH, I don't think government bureaucrats are tools. Just that most of the mainstream media are.
