Fortune

A few months ago, Ben cited several examples of his luck in getting good and/or accurate fortune cookie prophecies. My experience is to the contrary. Indeed, I'd be happy to get a cookie in a Chinese restaurant that actually contained a fortune. As I see it, the fortune cookies of my youth have been replaced by aphorism cookies, which usually are utterly uninteresting.

Why the change?

Well, aphorisms match up much better with either "...in bed" or "...with lesbians", or for the daring, "...in bed, with lesbians".

If there's anyone out there who doesn't get that, it's what you follow the "fortune" with, rendering it both less inscrutable and amusingly apt in far too many cases. Try it. Read the fortune, and immediately follow it with one of the three.

I was wondering if anyone else did the "in bed" reading but me.
