I think the drop-off reflected a temporary change in belief, as Anne Applebaum says, "a combination of Russian emigration into Israel, the end of Soviet support and general weariness led at least a part of the Palestinian leadership to conclude, after 30 years, that it would never push Israel into the sea." Will Gaza ever again realize that the Palestinians' preferred "one-state" solution isn't going to happen?
I am this minute listening to NPR interview Palestinians about the invasion. I am about to throw something.
