Why Kansas Remains Red

One of the few Democrats defeated Tuesday was Jim Slattery, who was trying to unseat Kansas Republican Senator Pat Roberts. I used to practice law with Slattery, so I know he's a decent guy. Still, this Slattery for Senate ad was rated among the worst of 2008. Slattery lost big--60% to 36%--and I can't help wondering whether the ad wasn't partly to blame.
