Obamessiah Suck-Up of the Day

UPDATE: below

Liberal columnist Michael Kinsley preserves his suck up despite Obama's sin:
Smoking is a disgusting habit that can kill you and those around you. Barack Obama claims to have quit, but the evidence is ambiguous. . .

[A]s presidential vices go, this one is not near the top. As for being a role model for youths, Obama's good habits outweigh this single bad one. . .

Obama's steely calm is now one of our country's major assets. If he needs an occasional cigarette to preserve it, let's hand him an ashtray, offer him a light and look the other way.
MORE:

OBH in comments:
Hey, doesn't DC have a "no smoking in government buildings" law? . . . Isn't the White House a government building?
The DC law doesn't apply to the White House. The Federal ban was adopted (by President Clinton) via Executive Order 13058, and thereafter embodied in GSA rules. That policy doesn't apply to "any residential accommodation for persons voluntarily or involuntarily residing, on a temporary or long-term basis, in a building owned, leased, or rented by the Federal Government." And, in any event, Obama could revise the Executive Order.

Ah, special rules for Special People.

Hey, doesn't DC have a "no smoking in government buildings" law? Is it "in" buildings, or "within 'x' feet"?

Isn't the White House a government building?

Ya think Obama's got to go outside like us mere Plebes if he wants a ciggie?

Damn Amerikkka and its foolish notions of equality!!

The Privileged Aristocracy is here, ready to be found at the heart of the Obama Nation!

Nah, this is where I root for Obama. It's like Bush 41 and the broccoli - if you get to be president, you should have the freedom to do what you want on the little stuff. I hope Obama chain-smokes and ticks off any number of bluestockings.

I quit smoking years ago--but I still agree with AVI.

I quit smoking years ago and can't stand the smell - it literally makes me sick. I'm glad it's outlawed in many/most indoor places. Your right to be noxious ends where my right to breathe begins.

But do we yet even have proof that O still practices this nasty habit? Next you guys will be yammering about the infamous non-existent "Michelle said whitey" tape again.
