Newest Doubter of Dem. Competence

UPDATE: below

Guess who's already trying to reduce expectations for an Obama Administration? His VP selection, the gaffe-prone Joe Biden:
"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right." . . .

"There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, 'Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don't know about that decision'," Biden continued. "Because if you think the decision is sound when they're made, which I believe you will when they're made, they're not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they're popular, they're probably not sound.". . .

"It's so much more important than that. It's so much more complicated than that. And Barack gets it."

After speaking for just over a quarter of an hour, Biden noticed the media presence in the back of the small ballroom.

"I probably shouldn't have said all this because it dawned on me that the press is here," he joked.

"All kidding aside, these guys have left us in a God-awful place," he then said of the Bush regime, promptly wrapping up his remarks. "We have the ability to straighten it out. It's gonna take a little bit of time, so I ask you to stay with us. Stay with us."
JustOneMinute's Tom Maguire responds with the quip of the campaign:
Biden is trying to put lipstick on the Bay of Pigs.
BTW, Ralph Peters lists the international turmoil America risks under Obama.

If you took Biden seriously here, you'd vote McCain.

David Reinhard in Wednesday's Oregonian:
Biden's Seattle stylings raise loads of questions and one warning. The warning? Sarah Palin, don't try this at home. Or the office. Or at the back of the press bus. Or even when you're gutting a moose. Just hinting that Obama will be tested in any of several major foreign-policy crises and that even his own backers will find his response lacking, and you'll come to envy that disemboweled moose.

Now for some questions for Biden:

Just what were you talking about, Joe?

Would you elaborate on the crises Obama could confront? Details, please.

Why won't it be readily apparent that Obama has responded well to these tests? Details, please.

Not every incoming president faces a time of testing. President Kennedy did and failed to measure up until the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. But our enemies didn't "test" Dwight Eisenhower or George H.W. Bush. Indeed, they made peace offerings to Ronald Reagan (Iran's freeing of the 52 U.S. hostages on the day of his inauguration). Why would our enemies feel the need to test an Obama and not a John McCain?

Could it be that, as Biden said before joining the ticket, that Obama's not ready to be president --"the presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training" -- and that McCain is? . . .

Don't voters deserve to know this before Election Day? Please reply with the candor you demonstrated in Seattle and San Francisco.

This is an 'own goal' if ever I saw one. It amazingly cries out for the election of McCain rather than Barack.

I wonder if, like Hillary, Biden is looking to 2012.

I laughed, but you know, this wasn't really funny. I agree with Bob. If you took Biden seriously here, you'd vote McCain.

The problem is, if you don't take Biden seriously, then, by the same logic being used against Palin, you'd have to vote McCain, too.

Heh. My blogger "verification" word is "sinkin"...
BWAAAAAAAhahahahahahahahahhaha!!

OBH - you know what's even funnier than your verification word? The Obama campaign is riding a wave of disgust for bankers and big financiers. But Biden is a major flag carrier for the financial industry; he has been a senator for 30 years from the one state in the union that has the highest dependence on the financial industry and the most business-friendly state environment.

Since our press has gone on vacation, no one points out the hysterical ironies.

I don't believe the voters know enough about Obama and I believe that is intentional. Is there anyway of getting all relevant information out BEFORE ELECTION DAY so voters can know what they need to know BEFORE they vote?

You may not agree with McCain, but at least you know all you need to know. So much has been hidden or changed about Obama, it seems impossible to characterize him or know what he would do on any issue, if he were President.
