From a September 16th AP article:
Top U.S. counterterrorism officials Monday said al-Qaida is "imploding" and that its violent tactics have turned Muslims worldwide against the organization. "Absolutely it's imploding. It's imploding because it's not a message that resonates with a lot of Muslims," said Dell Dailey, the State Department's coordinator for counterterrorism.

There was a newscrawl blurb on Fox News today about Bin Laden's Son, believed to be one of the remaining generals, leaving the safe haven of Iran to heaad to the uncontrolled areas of Pakistan next to Afghanistan.

I guess the question is, is this to rally the troops, or to stage some nice big showy act to shout "I'm not dead yet!!" ?

If so, it would be sweet if they were stupid enough to do it before the election. I sort of hope they think of our financial troubles as weakness on our part, and thus a good time to strike. I'd regret any success they might have, but nothing would focus people on things better that a successful -- or better yet, nearly successful -- terrorist attack.

Wait. Didn't Obama say that Al Qaida is stronger than ever because of Bush? I'm so confused.

Islam is a political movement first and foremost. Taking over the world is the bottom line of their program. And their bible, the Koran, promotes violence as the means of doing it, if free people choose any religion other than Islam.

Communism was illegal because of promoting violence as a means so it seems Islam should be illegal because of promoting violence as a means of destroying all non-Islamic cultures, religions and people. (Remember the Buddhist statues destroyed by the Islamic Taliban and the Afghan music, art and other cultural items destroyed by Islamic terrorists.) We had better stop Islam quickly. At least we can stop subsidizing them. Huh?
