Though I can agree that Sarah Palin is a worthy successor. And she will be President one day.

Her nominal mother, Gail, perhaps, whose skin color was never indicated (she was the offspring of Joe and Gail from Gulf, although her DNA had been improved).

... and yes, if you never realized
a) Whelan's cover of the initial paperback release was utterly wrong. Heinlein was probably laughing at it, if he never told Whelan...
b) Heinlein liked to do that -- throw in a very tiny little monkey wrench that most people would miss on first reading regarding the image the reader formed of the character. Eunice Branca of I Will Fear No Evil was another.
