QOTD

Stephen Moore in the June 6th Wall Street Journal:
Even John McCain, a cap-and-trade original co-sponsor, now says that this scheme won't fly until China and India sign on - which could be never.
Namo Narain Meena, India's co-Minister of State for Environment and Forests, in the June 5th News Post India:
India will not reduce greenhouse gas emission at the cost of development and poverty alleviation. India is struggling to bring millions of people out of poverty. We cannot accept binding commitments to cut down greenhouse gas emission.

"Could be"? Pfeh! The governments of the West may be idiots. I'll grant the government of India may be idiots (they certainly tried that socialist crap for a hell of a long time) but the government of China has never been stupid (socialism wasn't something they tried for economic reasons, it was a prime way to control a billion people). They know what ludicrous crap GW is, and probably STILL would not care even if it wasn't.

So I doubt if India will bite on that crap, and I'm damned sure China won't.

They aren't going to do the greenhouse gas thing, which is nuts. But they are raising energy costs domestically, which in the end amounts to all they can do in the matter.

These governments aren't going to commit suicide. They aren't going to torture their people for a theory that is getting evidentially weaker every day. They'd have to be brutal idiots to do that.

They do need to deal with pollution and cost issues, as do we all.
