Best Response on WMDs

Somehow I missed this thought-provoking 2005 column by Don Surber:
Thank God there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Thank God President Bush was wrong, Colin Powell was wrong, Condoleezza Rice was wrong and George Tenet was wrong.

Thank God President Clinton was wrong, John Kerry was wrong, Bob Byrd was wrong and George Tenet, again, was wrong.

I am grateful that our troops did not have to face nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, because if he had had them, Saddam Hussein would have used them.

He learned from his mistakes in 1991.

America’s greatest fear going in was that we would lose thousands of troops to a ruthless dictator who terrorized his own people and threatened his neighbors.

I remember the assurances in 2002 from West Virginia’s senior senator that we had a catalog of Hussein’s chemical weaponry because -- dramatic pause -- American companies had supplied them. . .

As usual, Byrd was wrong. There was no such catalog. It turned out Hussein was bluffing. What a relief.

That America had to go in and remove Hussein was without question. When it comes to the possible slaughter of millions of people, it is better to err on the side of caution.
There's much more--read the whole thing.
