Media Correction of the Week

From MSNBC:
Due to an editing error in a Feb. 8 report in "Blogging Baghdad," we incorrectly reported that the Prophet Muhammad was killed instead of passing away peacefully. His grandson, Iman Hussein, was killed in the 680 AD battle that is commemorated during the Shiite holy festival of Ashoura.
The best evidence yet Islam is the "Religion of Peace."®

More:

A commenter links to Another Denmark, a group (if it's not a spoof) collecting greetings and signatures endorsing its pacific policy: "Do you believe the crisis due to the Jyllands-Posten drawings should be solved by more tolerance and respect?" Their recommendation:
A group of citizens have engaged themselves in the controversy over the caricatures with an initiative that enables the average Dane to convey his or her's understanding and tolerance towards the Muslim world.

"The website is a channel for international cooperation, where Danish citizens are able to communicate directly with citizens in the Muslim countries, and demonstrate the existence of Another Denmark, that understands the need for an apology from the newspaper Jyllands-Posten. If we are to break down prejudices on both sides of the conflict, it is important to show that far from all Danes are hostile against Islam, and that many of us are convinced, that it is possible to live together with respect and tolerance for each other's cultures and identities."

During the course of the last two weeks, extremists on both sides have increasingly been successful in making their imprint on the escalating conflict, following their own agendas to the great detriment of all people, who simply want to live in peace and with respect for different groups of people and religious faiths. . .

"The conflict has been worsened by the possibilities inherent in the new media to rapidly spread feelings like fear and mistrust, but we want to employ these media in a positive way, establishing a basis for a greater understanding between Denmark and the Muslim world"
The should-be-unnecessary translation: "Thank you, sir! May I have another?"

Exactly how many non-Muslims (Danes or otherwise) killed or rioted over the cartoons? What happened to "if you don't like abortion, don't have one!" freedom? Cox and Forkum know. Pim Fortuyn knew--until he was assassinated by tolerance. Writing about the London bombings, Mark Steyn got it last year:
[Euro apologists] appear[] to be arguing that our tolerance of our own tolerance is making us intolerant of other people's intolerance, which is intolerable. Thus the lop-sided valse macabre of our times: the more the Islamists step on our toes, the more we waltz them gaily round the room. . . [A]nyone can be tolerant of the tolerant, but tolerance of intolerance gives an even more intense frisson of pleasure to the multiculti masochists. Australia's old cultural cringe had a certain market rationality; the new multicultural cringe is pure nihilism.
