Motivations

Late last year, Life More Abundant wrote:
Let's get two things straight.

The battle in Israel is not over land.

And the war in Iraq is not about oil.
What follows is my comment on that thread.

Agreed on both points. Israel has equal or superior rights compared with Palestinian Arabs, especially considering Muslims accept the divinity of man's oldest written record--the Bible, which unambiguously reserves what now is Israel for Jews. And it's not about oil (except it was for the French, the Russians and the Germans). Bush never said Iraq was an "imminent" threat, nor did he lie.

The bottom line is this: before the invasion, there were only two places middle Eastern Arabs could freely and fairly vote: Israel and the UN General Assembly. Starting January 30th, Iraq became the third; the widespread joy on election day, and the democratic outcome and aftermath, are themselves sufficient to justify ousting Saddam.

Sean mocks the concept of evil. I think the failure to distinguish between good and evil is an abandonment of humanity--both shameful and dangerous. And, though I have enormous respect for Sad American, I suggest this: 1) America's at war, not "overly militarized"; and 2) Iraqis stopped being planted in mass graves and began voting. Why isn't that enough?
