Questioning a Candidate's Military Service

No, I'm not talking about the phony Bush-AWOL stories. Over at FrontPageMag.com, some Vets are challenging Senator Kerry's heroism in Vietnam:
Here we have a JFK wannabe (the guy Halsey wanted to court martial for carelessly losing his boat and getting a couple people killed by running across the bow of a Japanese destroyer) who is hardly in Vietnam long enough to get good tan, collects medals faster than Audie Murphy in a job where lots of medals weren't common, gets sent home eight months early and requests separation from active duty a few months after that so he can run for Congress. . . I'm real glad you or I never had this guy covering out flanks in Vietnam. I sure don't want him as Commander-in-Chief.
The article claims that Kerry's exploits were both implausible and at odds with Swift boat SOP.

The same email came to me a few days ago, and I've been unable to confirm any details or its source. But the Dems produced no evidence before slandering Bush. And the President released his service records to settle the issue. Senator Kerry, by contrast, won't publish his records. At minimum, this makes Kerry a typical liberal hypocrite. But Mickey Kaus wonders whether the Haughty Hairdo has something to hide.

Turn-about is hell, isn't it?

Update:

Via Instapundit, a plausable defense of Kerry's Vietnam record.
