Honest Headline of the Year

As reported by Reuters on July 23rd:
Japan seeks consumer burden to push renewable energy
The article begins:
Japanese consumers will have to pay higher electricity bills under a government plan to help triple the generating capacity of renewable energy in the next decade and cut CO2 emissions.

Utility firms will be required to buy at a fixed rate electricity generated from renewable sources of energy -- mega solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and small hydro power -- from as early as 2012, the trade ministry said on Friday.

The cost will be passed on to consumers in a scheme called a "feed-in" tariff, which is already used in countries including Germany and Spain.
And we know how well that worked in Spain and Germany.

Precisely. WTF is wrong with these people? How is it that the political class, worldwide, is making such astonishingly imbecilic decisions?

I'm not (expressly) blaming Germany and Spain, they had no direct hard evidence the notions were wrong (a VAST ARRAY of secondary evidence, but at least you can debate that sort of thing a bit and not be indisputably either an imbecile or a charlatan) -- Japan has no such excuse. Their politicians are self-evidently either morons or crooks.

This is perfectly the honest headline of the year such that japan is going to pay more for the electricity bills.

Its great that Japan is pushing renewable energy, but the people have to be behind them for it to actually work. To learn more about renewable energy check out www.everblue.edu
