As the debate on immigration heats up, check out these year-old New York Times interactive charts. The first shows where immigrants from different countries have settled in the United States. The second depicts the professions of immigrants by country of origin. On the first chart, look at "Cuba"; on the second, try "Hairdressers and other grooming services."

Good find, Carl.
In particular, compare the individually selected immigration patterns for Sweden, Italy, Russia over the period, vs. that for Mexico.
The former swell to a specific percentage of the populace, then slowly decline after 30-50 years.
Mexico is having none of that. It's both a larger percentage of the population BY FAR in its areas than those former waves, AND is not showing any sign of abating after over 50 years, if you consider the swell starting around 1960 as the start point.
I've already pointed this NYT chart out over at Coyoteblog, where the otherwise sensible blogger seems to have a blind spot when it comes to concerns about illegal immigration.
