- Progressive pressure group Moveon.org is airing ads attacking Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln -- a Democrat. This, says the Economist, is an excellent way to elect Republicans.
- Progressive zealotry is one reason Lincoln trails the expected Republican challenger in polls. So, meeting with President Obama on Wednesday, the Senator stuck back:
Lincoln, who faces a tough reelection fight, asked Obama to push back against "people at the extremes" of both parties, especially against Democrats "who want extremes."
She also took a swipe at Obama's White House, referencing a constituent who "fears that there's no one in your administration that understands what it means to go to work on Monday and make a payroll on Friday." - White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel called one extremest liberal activist group "f---ing retarded." Rahm later apologized to the head of the Special Olympics, but not to liberals. In other words, as Glenn Reynolds quips, "Rahm Emanuel compares Democrats to retarded people, then apologizes to retarded people."
