Chart of the Day

The tone of media coverage in Obama's first two months in office as compared with the previous two Presidents, according to the Pew Research Center:

source: Pew

As the study concludes:
President Barack Obama has enjoyed substantially more positive media coverage than either Bill Clinton or George Bush during their first months in the White House, according to a new study of press coverage.

Overall, roughly four out of ten stories, editorials and op ed columns about Obama have been clearly positive in tone, compared with 22% for Bush and 27% for Clinton in the same mix of seven national media outlets during the same first two months in office.
No kidding--literally.

As Gomer Pyle used to say, "Surprise, surprise, surprise."

Makes one want to celebrate bankruptcies of various newspapers.

Agreed. And the best part is that no one can claim Pew is a right-wing organization.

The coverage even in New Zealand (sorry, Bob) has been very positive, too, even down to the presidential dog and White House-issued still photographs run on the network news. I didn’t know when our TV news became the White House’s press department.

For those keeping score, that is about an 80% margin over the positive coverage for Mr. Clinton. Zowee!
