Unofrtunately, he's a politician, so his own words are almost useless in this regards.
I'll grant him the possibility of patriotism, albeit utterly warped and mistargeted, to the point where it serves no valid purpose of any kind, and is actually detrimental to the country it relates to.
My own responses:

McCain. Obama is a big, fat, juicy target. He's politically clueless enough to not have grasped that the whole Wright/Trinity church thing wasn't blatantly something problemmatic from the get-go (it would have been a problem if he'd left the church 5 years ago, but the media would have helped blow that over). That issue is far from done with, BTW.
Second, he's got no real platform. He's just got "vague ideas". That's going to become ever more clear as time passes.
Third, he's as socialist/collectivist a bastard as they come. America hasn't been great about not electing socialists and collectivists to Congress, but they haven't been so stupid and clueless as to put a far left idiot into the PotUS, yet. I think the red states (singularly ironic, mind you) are once more going to tell the Dems, through Obama to "F**k Off!" -- and they are going to have to tolerrate being called "racists" for it this time.
Fourth, It appears he can't even win an argument with his wife over a dog (or even get her to be clued in enough to shut up about it and not argue when in public) (Cassandra does a spectacularly good dissection of this). If he hasn't got the spine to win that one, then what is going to happen when he gets in public with Ahminajad, Chavez, or any number of Leftist Anti-American Euroleaders? They are going to eat America's lunch and have the rest of the week's scheduled fare sent home for later microwaving. You haven't heard the last of this one. The blogosphere needs to resurrect this one every 45 days until the election to keep it floating on people's minds.

Hillary was the stronger candidate. She was a bitch, but at least you could take her seriously as a responsible adult leader. Not a good one, but at least vaguely capable of the job. She had people who hated her, but I suspect that there are going to be people who wind up hating Obama just in reaction to being called "racist" for not drooling at the sound of his name.

I think the initial anti-GOP swing is over. People are generally disgusted with both sides, now, so they aren't going to vote against the GOP only.

Liberal? The man is the most socialist/collectivist idiot in Congress. His mother was a complete socialist, as is his pastor. Granted, some people swing opposite to their parents, but most swing back by the time they are Obama's age, and the fact that he's actually been putting up with his idiotic rhetoric for the last 20 years suggests he never swung away from his mother. In support of this, I'd point out that he also has a close association with that idiot husband & wife pair of anarchist professors at the University of Chicago(?) (Note: This association is going to get a spotlight shined on it later on -- this is an additional part of "1" above.

See the opening paragraph. I don't think he is truly unpatriotic, but his own views of America and what it's all about are so warped and screwed up that it's a distinction without a difference.

I have to say it's possbile, if not likely. I certainly cannot accept the idea that you could stand around while Wright spouts his bilious rhetoric and NOT either raise hell over it or AT LEAST walk out in disgust, without swallowing what is said.

See "1" above, in particular. I don't think he's competent and experienced enough to be SENATOR. Governor of a small state (Wyoming, Rhode Island)... maybe.

Obama stuck around at Sunday services over six years after the first time we know his spiritual mentor damned white America (which apparently was not a one-off event). If us right wing Ofays are tagged as racists for allegedly tolerating racists among us (though I know of none personally), then surely one can draw inferences about Obama.
OBH:
You're overly optimistic. Leaving aside the White House--I'll make no firm predictions here until after Labor Day--we're gonna lose around 4 Senate seats and will be cut back to around 100 in the House.
obloodyhell, you expose yourself in referring to Hillary as a "bitch." Obviously, you feel threatened by women who are superior to you. She could have been a great leader, if men like you were not so intimidated by such women.
Would you consider the 93% of black voters who vote for Obama as racists?
I agree that Obama is more ambitious then patriotic. In fact he may hold the USA in as great contempt as does his wife whose self interest and ambition are obviously far greater than any broader caring about our country.
I wonder if the nation's love of Tiger Woods facilitated the nomination of Obama. Is Obama reaping the benefits of Tiger's lovability?
