QOTD

French composer Olivier Messiaen (1908-92), remembering when he first saw a musical score -- Gluck's Orphee -- at age seven-and-a-half:
I noticed an extraordinary thing. I was reading, sitting there and I could hear what I was reading in my head. So I was a musician.
Quoted in Christopher Dingle, The Life of Messiaen, at 2 (2007).
