In the first debate, John Kerry said "Iraq was not even close to the center of the war on terror before the president invaded it." John Edwards said much the same on Tuesday. This claim is central to the Democrats' critique of President Bush's conduct of the war on terror. It's widely repeated, and assumed, in the "blue" states.
Don't believe it. There's ample proof of a connection between pre-invasion Iraq and Islamic terror. And now, thanks to the Hoover Institute's (and NRO's) Deroy Murdock, there's a single website detailing the evidence: husseinandterror.com. One item I hadn't remembered: Judge Baer's ruling in Smith and Soulas v. Taliban, No. 01-10132 (S.D.N.Y. May 8, 2003) ("I conclude that plaintiffs have shown, albeit barely, 'by evidence satisfactory to the court' that Iraq provided material support to bin Laden and al Qaeda.").
Read the whole thing before November 2nd.
