Sentence in first para of the same New York Times story:
Mr. Obama would generally cut taxes more than Senator John McCain would for households with incomes less than $100,000 a year.

Question: I'm not a tax lawyer. But doesn't this chart demonstrate McCain would provide more tax relief for households earning up to $150,000? So why wasn't the headline:
McCain Tax Plan Better for Middle Class

    I mean, how's a political suckup supposed to survive if he has LESS to hand out to buy votes with?

    It's a better tax break with Obama's plan... for Obama.
